Fun fact:

Gift sets of liquor (at least in the state of Texas) are legally prohibited from costing any more than the bottle in the set would cost alone.

I think this one cost me $2 more- which I’m totally cool with cause they’re pretty sweet glasses.

But that is good to know. Does Texas have private or state run liquor stores? We have ABC here :/

Let me do some checking, my wife works as a liquor/wine Rep for a major distributor in TX (ever heard of Billy Bob’s? Half of their Wine and Liquor goes through my wife). She appraised me of the law, so I will do some digging and get back to you. I am pretty sure it has to do with TABC viewing gift packs as some sort of “marketing”, which they heavily regulate in TX.

So I went to Arizona and was blown away by the fact that the local Wal-Mart had a booze aisle. Come to VA and you’ll get nothing but sadness and disappointment.

I travel alot, and the diversity of liquor laws across the US is pretty astonishing. The weirdest I have seen so far is in Salt Lake City, Utah. They will serve you liquor, but only if you order food. Even then, you cannot see your drink being made, they are legally required to mix drinks out of sight of the customer.

Da fuck.... That sounds all sorts of messed up. The obvious being ordering top shelf then they disappear and return with brown piss water but charge you too shelf cost. That’s really not cool. Shame on you Utah, for shame.
